New Year?

Hey,

Last week I was on vacation and I haven't had much of a chance to preach. I promise I will not take it out on you with a 45 minute sermon and an offering. The following stuff will probably not make it to the pulpit - but none the less was given to me out of prayer from our Lord.

Will it really be a new year for you or will it be the same old stuff? Let's chart a new course!

Let's:

1. Go with God no matter what it looks like.
This will take some adjusting. We are not geared to do this. Let me explain; if God says give a dollar to the Salvation Army - we don't have a problem. But what if God says: sell all you have and give your life to full time ministry? Now, are we geared this way - NO WAY. I found myself in this place 19 years ago. I said, what the heck - I'm going with God. Glad I did. I have never met anyone who regretted going with God. You've got to get to the point where it doesn't matter - all you want to do is know.

2. Get to a place where you don't have to have your way.
Don't Whine but Shine. Man is there every some whining going on! Don't save your drama for your mama - she doesn't want to hear it - she is sick of it also. Christ taught us to in Matthew 20 that we must serve and not complain. Also in Philippians -
Phi 2:14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing;
Phi 2:15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,

Reading this is so easy, but it is hard to put it in your pipe and smoke it.

3. Do something for someone else and not tell anyone.
Be careful in this because if you are like the rest of Adam's sons and daughters - we want some glory. This is hard. This will help you get the focus off of you. Be careful - the lens that most of us look through is really a mirror.

Well, all this stuff may not mean a hill of beans (this is not a hill like a mountain, a hill to older generation is one plant on a row of many plants) to you, but I feel better. I have gotten it off my chest. I know these 3 things work - my life will never be the same.

A wretched man who is trying to practice what he preaches.
